Living & working in West Bridgford
Both of us are self-employed and live in the lovely town of West Bridgford, just across Trent Bridge south of Nottingham.
Since then we've met up every month to work together and develop the site. I walk to her house just down the road near Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, and after a quick catch-up (OK, quite a long catch-up) we get on with some work. Then, equipped with a list of things to do over the next month, I head home.
Business & pleasure DO mix
Soon after we started collaborating, Katie contacted me and told me to book off June 25th but she wouldn’t tell me why. I’m not sure what I was expecting, a ‘blue sky day’ or some other management-type event that I wasn’t looking forward to but it turned out I was in for a real treat...
Apparently, Katie had had "a couple of drinks" (her words not mine!) at a charity fundraiser and ended up bidding for two tickets for Court One at Wimbledon. I have no idea what she paid for them but I think the charity had a pretty good evening. She booked the train and took care of everything, all I had to do was get myself to the bus-stop at the right time. We had a brilliant day out getting sunburnt (I still have the sunglasses mark but she's stopped laughing at it), watching Andy Murray and drinking Pimms and, if she wasn't already, Katie became my favourite client!!
Over the last few months we’ve worked together on Nook & Cranny's web content, blog and social media. 'Working' with Katie has been a lot of fun, we’ve become friends and it hasn’t felt like work at all. She’s the only client I’ve got who emails me things like, “Get you on my website ; )”, “Is this stuff for kids?!” and “OMG it works!!”. While other lovely clients are taking me out for Christmas meals, Katie's taking the Nook & Cranny team to the panto at the Playhouse - I think we're in for a fun evening.
Katie really is the person to know, she’s extremely generous and refers me to other businesses for work, introduces me to brilliant people, and gives me all sorts of advice about running my own business. As Nook & Cranny continues to grow at a rate of knots, we’ve pretty much got the website to where we want it to be so we’re about to start on another aspect of marketing and carry on growing the empire.
The collaboration continues…
