The flats weren't 'luxury' when we acquired them though, we've put in a huge amount of work to bring them up to our usual standards and they all look fantastic now. They've been tastefully decorated and have all the home comforts you'd expect in a Nook & Cranny property: a Nespresso machine, a fully equipped kitchen, a washer/dryer, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, private parking, plush towels, unlimited WiFi, and they're all fully serviced and regularly cleaned by our housekeeping team the Pink Army.
Six of the seven flats are in a beautiful Victorian building – called 'The Bowling Green' – one minute from the shops on Melton Road and a three-minute walk from Central Avenue, overlooking (you've guessed it) the bowling green opposite.
The Bowling Green is perfect for large groups who are relocating or travelling together. It's in a great location with lots of amenities nearby, and there's a private parking space for each flat. The six apartments all sleep 3 or 4 people and one of them is all on one level and has a custom built ramp for wheelchair access.
We often talk about what Central Avenue has to offer and Melton Road is just a few minutes' walk away from the centre of West Bridgford and Central Avenue, it's a hub in its own right with lots of great shops, cafés and activity.
Here are some of our favourite places:
Hopology – is the place to go if you like beer. Hopology is the place to go even if you don't like beer as you'll probably be converted. Hopology was recently voted 'Best East Midlands Independent Drinks Retailer' by Off Licence News and it certainly lives up to its reputation. It stocks a range of 50 regularly changing top quality beers from micro breweries in Europe and the US.
Hambleton Bakery – if you stay at The Bowling Green you'll have another award-winning shop on your doorstep: Hambleton Bakery. Hambleton Bakery, also on Melton Road, was commended in the 'Baker Of The Year' category in the Farm Shop & Deli Awards 2015. They make delicious bread, cakes and lots of other savoury and sweet treats.
Taste café – is another of our favourites and is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or catching up over a mid-morning coffee or cup of tea. It's known for its amazing homemade cakes (ask Franco about their gluten-free ones), delicious coffee and friendly staff.
You'll also find an independent butchers, fishmongers and deli along Melton Road a few minutes' walk from The Bowling Green, so if you're into food you're in for a treat.
Our seventh new property is a light and airy apartment with two double bedrooms (one is a mezzanine), which easily sleeps four people. If you're a cricket fan or enjoy good food and a glass of wine at the end of the day (and let's face it, who doesn't?!) this apartment is perfect as it's over the road from Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and opposite the famous Larwood & Voce pub. It has it's own allocated parking space and is just two minutes' walk from the centre of West Bridgford.
