This is all for The Ashes - one of the most hotly contested sporting rivalries in history - the cricketing titans of Australia and (sometimes) England come together to do battle in a gruelling five day test match, that to the bemusement of some of our American guests can still end in a draw.
The Ashes was first contested all the way back in 1882 and the little urn - the term comes from Australia's famous win at The Oval in 1882 - with the British media proclaiming that English cricket had 'died' and its ashes carried back to Australia by the victors.
Here at Nook & Cranny we have guests & friends on both sides of the fence and with HQ and many of our apartments just a 30 second walk away from Trent Bridge, we cannot wait to hear the roars and excitement that the coming days will bring. West Bridgford becomes even more vibrant than usual - have a pint in the world famous Trent Bridge Inn, a picnic at lunch in the park and a post cricket meal at The Larwood & Voce, Mudcrab, Cote or Carluccios or many others just down the road. Bridgford truly is the perfect place for World Class International Cricket, and we really can't wait.
With England leading the series at 2-1, it's quite possible that we can re-gain those Ashes come Monday - West Bridgford is a fitting town to win them back!!
